Kathy received an A.S. degree in horticulture from SUNY Cobleskill, which she put to use for 22 years at a local greenhouse. 

 Her true passion has always been sewing and decided to follow that passion. After becoming a certified career professional at the Custom Home Furnishings Academy in NC, Kathy used her talents to start Custom Slipcovers by Kathy in 2004.

Kathy returned to Custom Home Furnishings Academy in NC, in 2008 to expand her business into window treatments, and renamed her business Swags and Slipcovers.

When Kathy is not sewing, she spends her free time with her husband John enjoying various outdoor activities, skiing, biking, hiking, paddling, and camping. She also volunteers her time maintaining part of the Finger Lakes Trail. Kathy is an active member of her church.
